Town Crying

By asking such fundamental questions, Vital Signs provoked discussion about how our designed environment affects everyday life, and about the aspirations people hold for their lives and for the places they live in.
Vital Signs is commissioned by Dott 07 and produced by Forma.
Vital Signs - Town Crying
A Lone Twin project
Performance art group Lone Twin is renowned internationally for creating performances through making journeys and explorations into places. In Town Crying, Lone Twin collaborated with Alnwick's award-winning town crier to create a unique series of proclamations that told stories of places, events and communities back to the people of the region.
The scripts performed were developed from conversations and chance encounters between the artists and people who live, shop, work or visit these various locations. Through collecting stories, ideas and opinions, the artists built up a catalogue of ideas about how we want to live. These personal, anecdotal and often humorous commentaries were broadcast by the town crier at events ranging from car boot sales and markets to festivals and the Metro system.
If you missed the town crier click on the MP3 file below to listen to a script performed at Eldon Square in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Download the scripts below that were performed across the region from 19 - 29 July.
