Design and Sexual Health (DaSH) Conclusion

The downloadable documents below outline the design recommendations that are the outcome of the Design and Sexual Health (DaSH) project.
DaSH, lead by Design Options in collaboration with Gateshead PCT and the Centre for Design Research, Northumbria University was commissioned by Dott 07 to use the best service design techniques to develop a sexual health service for the town, where people are seen within 48 hours of first contact, the treatment pathway is clear and the service best meets the needs, preferences and circumstances of all users.
Service Experience
This document is a design proposal for Gateshead Primary Care Trust’s new sexual health service. It contains service design recommendations that are the outcome of the DaSH project, running from July 2006 to January 2007. The fundamental principle on which this project was based is that the experience a person has of using a sexual health service should be central to its design. To understand how people feel about accessing such services, the Design Options team consulted approximately 1200 professionals and members of the public in the Gateshead area. The design recommendations presented here are the outcome of this wide-scale public consultation, and accommodate the themes uncovered through this process to all aspects of the service design.

This document was produced by Design Options in partnership with Gateshead Primary Care Trust.
